Nitrogen supplier in Fort Collins

As a nitrogen supplier in Fort Collins we deliver food-grade nitrogen in cylinders from our Prospect Park Way depot, alongside your CO2, or fit a NITRO-DRAUGHT generator that makes it on site. Breweries and taprooms are most of the demand, because nitro pours and long draft runs depend on it.

Nitrogen gas in Fort Collins breweries

Nitro stouts and nitro cold beers need a high nitrogen fraction at the faucet. Long draft runs need nitrogen in the blend so the beer is pushed without picking up extra carbonation. Packaging lines use nitrogen to keep air off finished product. In each case nitrogen is inert in these applications, which is why it is chosen.

Mark Springs of Tap's Sports Bar in Colorado called our system and its Nitro-Blend generator the best out there on our original site. The same equipment is available to any Northern Colorado account.

When a nitrogen tank in Fort Collins should become a generator

A taproom with one nitro handle is well served by a nitrogen tank on exchange. A production brewery cycling through cylinders every week is usually better off with a NITRO-DRAUGHT generator, which produces nitrogen from clean compressed air. NITRO-DRAUGHT units are made by Fizz Dog and come in three models: the 1200 Basic, the Pro Basic and the Max Basic.

We size the choice against your measured consumption, and if cylinders are still cheaper we say so.

Blending on site with the TruFusion

Once nitrogen is on site, from cylinders or a generator, the TruFusion blender mixes it with CO2 and holds the ratio to plus or minus 2 percent. At Fort Collins elevation that matters, because the blend and the regulator pressure have to be set together.

  • Food-grade nitrogen cylinders on exchange
  • Three NITRO-DRAUGHT generator models for production volume
  • TruFusion blending to your draft system's ratio
  • One account for nitrogen and CO2

Nitrogen on a canning or bottling line

Packaging is where a brewery's nitrogen use can quietly overtake its taproom's. Blanketing a tank or a package with an inert gas keeps oxygen off the beer, and nitrogen does that without adding carbonation. Whether that use runs through cylinders or a generator depends on how many hours a week the line runs.

Our nitrogen for packaging is food grade, and the purity is set to the application when the account or the generator is specified.

What we ask before sizing a NITRO-DRAUGHT generator

A generator has to be sized to the peak, not the average, or the nitro handles go soft on a busy night. These are the questions the assessment works through:

  • How many nitro and blended handles the taproom runs
  • How long the draft runs are from cooler to faucet
  • Whether packaging or tank blanketing draws on the same supply
  • How much clean compressed air capacity the site already has
  • How many hours a day the draw is at its peak

Blend and pressure at 5,000 feet

Elevation changes the regulator setting, and a blend changes how much CO2 actually dissolves at a given pressure. At Fort Collins altitude the two are set together: the blend ratio from your line length and beer style, the pressure from the chart plus roughly 2.5 psi for the elevation. Getting one right and the other wrong is the most common reason a taproom's nitro pour drifts.

Common questions

It depends on your nitrogen draw and how many handles and packaging points it serves. We size it from measured usage during the assessment.

Both are on our Northern Colorado territory list. Nitrogen cylinders travel with your CO2 on the same account.

No. We supply food-grade nitrogen gas, in cylinders or generated on site.

Often, if it is sized for the combined peak. We size it from your measured draw on both, and say so if a second unit or cylinder backup makes more sense.
