Green CO2 Systems

The brewery gas supplier for CO2 and beer gas

A brewery uses gas everywhere: purging tanks, counter-pressure filling, carbonating, pushing beer, and dispensing in the taproom. As a brewery gas supplier we size for all of it rather than treating you like a bar that happens to have a mash tun.

A dependable and reliable beverage gas supplier for breweries

As a brewery owner, we know how important it is for you to have a dependable and reliable beverage gas supplier. If you're looking for the best CO2 system to optimize the brewing process and create the perfect pour for your beers, Green CO2 Systems has you covered.

Using our industry changing technology, you get the benefit of what you pay for which means consistent product quality and higher profit margins.

With our 24/7 external fill capability, we are able to keep your gas cylinders filled without interrupting operations during busy business hours. Speak with one of our Territory Sales Managers and get a Free CO2 Assessment.

Brewery CO2 demand is spiky, so we size for the peak

Your consumption is not a steady line. Packaging day, transfers and tank purges create large short draws that a cylinder bank simply cannot absorb, which is how breweries end up rationing gas or halting a transfer halfway through.

A bulk system sized on peak draw rather than average monthly usage removes that. It is the single most common fix we make on a brewery account.

Where the gas goes

Understanding this is what separates a brewery spec from a bar spec.

  • Purging tanks and lines to keep oxygen away from the beer
  • Counter-pressure filling of kegs, cans and bottles
  • Carbonation to the brewer's target volumes
  • Pushing beer between vessels and out to the taproom
  • Taproom dispensing, often on long draw lines needing blended gas

Keeping oxygen out starts with clean gas

Everything you do to protect beer from oxygen is undone by gas that is not clean. Our supply is beverage-grade as standard, and because our bulk systems stay fully enclosed rather than being repeatedly opened to atmosphere, there is far less opportunity for contamination to get in.

Nitrogen and blended gas

Taproom lines are usually long enough that straight CO2 will over-carbonate on the way to the faucet. We set a blend from your actual line length and temperature and hold it to plus or minus 2 percent.

Breweries running nitro pours need a much higher nitrogen fraction again. Rather than take repeated nitrogen deliveries, many of our brewery accounts run a NITRO-DRAUGHT generator that makes food grade nitrogen on site from compressed air they already have.

Fort Collins and Denver

Our Northern Colorado depot sits in one of the highest brewery densities in the country, and Denver is not far behind. That concentration is why our route schedules in Colorado are built around brewery packaging days rather than a generic weekly drop.

Taproom, kegerator and keg CO2 tank supply

Production is only half of a brewery account. The taproom needs its own gas, and so does every kegerator behind the bar. A CO2 tank for kegerator use is a different size and a different blend to the gas feeding your brite tanks, and treating them as one line item is how taprooms end up with foam.

As a brewery CO2 supplier we spec both. Microbrewery CO2 for production, a correctly sized kegerator CO2 tank for the bar, and a keg CO2 tank rotation for any account not yet on bulk.

  • Keg CO2 tank exchange for taprooms and bars
  • Kegerator CO2 tank sizing matched to your dispensing setup
  • Microbrewery CO2 sized on peak draw, not average usage
  • Blended gas where taproom line length demands it

Gas through the brewing process

Brewery CO2 demand is not one number. It is several distinct draws with very different profiles, and sizing on the total misses the ones that matter.

Purging and blanketing
Continuous low draw, protecting beer from oxygen from transfer through to packaging
Counter-pressure filling
Sharp high draw on packaging days, the single largest spike most breweries see
Carbonation
Sustained moderate draw to the brewer's target volumes
Transfers
Short high draw pushing beer between vessels, often several times a week
Taproom dispensing
Steady draw, usually needing a blend rather than straight CO2 because of line length

Common questions

That is exactly what we size for. A system specified on average monthly usage cannot keep up on packaging day, so we spec on peak draw instead.

Yes, both sit on the same account and the same delivery. Taproom dispensing usually needs a different blend to production, which we set separately.

Frequently, yes, particularly if you run nitro or long draw lines. The assessment runs the numbers against your real nitrogen consumption.
