CO2 safety systems, monitoring and alarms

A CO2 safety system does a job nobody can do unaided. CO2 is odorless, colorless and heavier than air, so it collects silently in exactly the enclosed low spaces where people work alone.

Two different jobs, often confused

Safety monitoring protects people. It watches concentration in the room, alarms audibly and visually, and shuts the supply if levels keep climbing.

Telemetry protects your service. It reports tank levels back to us so a delivery happens before you run dry. They are separate systems solving separate problems, and most sites need both.

What is in the category

Three products that work as one system.

  • LogiCO2 MK9 CO2 Sensor, life-safety shutoff at 5000 ppm with strobe and horn
  • LogiCO2 Central Unit, controls up to 12 MK9 sensors with real time PPM readings
  • CO2 and N2 Telemetry, wireless remote level monitoring with mobile app access

Placement is most of the job

Sensors mounted at head height because it was convenient will not detect a CO2 accumulation in time, because the gas sinks. They go low, near storage and dispensing points, at the height the gas actually collects.

This is the single most common fault we find on existing installations when we take over an account.

Life safety

Choosing CO2 safety equipment that will actually pass

A CO2 detection system is judged on placement and thresholds, not on brand. A commercial CO2 monitor mounted at eye height in a cellar will report clean air while the floor is not, and that installation fails both its purpose and its inspection.

We specify CO2 safety equipment from the room rather than the catalog: where gas would collect, how many zones need covering, and what threshold your jurisdiction expects.

Common questions

Monitoring wherever gas is stored in an occupied space, which is usually a requirement rather than a choice. Telemetry comes standard on every bulk and cylinder exchange account, because it is what stops emergency service calls.

Yes, they drift over time. Replacement is a scheduled maintenance item covered as part of the account.
